Basil Ice Cream

Description

Yes, you read right, this is ice cream with basil flavor.
And you know what? An ice cream this green and this suspicious shouldn't taste this delicious! OMG, it's going to be my new favorite ice cream.
I found the recipe on the web (where else) and thought: well, you have grown the basil, now you should use it.
I'm a total newbie when it comes to herbs and especially cooking with herbs. But this is my discovery of the summer :drool:

Recipe:
- Basil (a hand full)
- 250 ml Cream (I used light)
- a bit of lemon juice
- 3 egg yolks
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- a pinch of salt

Put the cream, the lemon juice and the basil into a mixer and mix.
Put the basil-cream through a sieve, get it to cook, but take it off directly after (actually, I forgot this step, but it still worked ^^)
Whip the egg yolks and the sugar in a bain-marie (medium heat)
Add the basil-cream and heat while stirring until the whole starts to thicken, but don't let cook! (since I used light cream, it didn't get thicker, so I heated it up for about 20minutes)
Let cool down, then put it into the refrigerator. For a smoother result, stir from time to time (I think, I stirred 3 times, always after 1 hour)
I hope this makes sense, I translated it from a german recipe and I'm not so familiar with the english cooking terms.
