This is Kumamoto castle. Really impressive. Actually, it's a whole block with many buildings surrounded by high walls and the castle in the middle on the highest spot.

I don't know the meaning of the lanterns, I suppose, since it was cherry blossom season, that there has been some kind of night picnic or so.
