A biscornu (bee-ss-corn-uh) is a small, 8-sided, stuffed ornamental pincushion, usually made out of Aida cloth or linen. Embroidery or Cross Stitch is used to decorate the top and bottom of the cushion. A button is typically secured in the center of the cushion to give a small depression on the top. Beads, Tassels and other objects can decorate the biscornu. They are typically able to fit in the palm of your hand. The name is derived from the French adjective, biscornu, meaning skewed, quirky or irregular. (from Wiki)

As a previous CV and as an Artisan Crafts enthusiastic in general, I feel that the Architectural Models sub-category of Artisan Crafts is often left out of the spotlight. Mainly, I think because it is not nearly as popular as say jewelry making or knitting.
I've always had a respect for architectural models, my first room mate had a huge city model that he built from scratch, he kept removing buildings and replacing them with new ones all the time. I could sit there on the floor of his room, watching him build and destroy for hours while we conversed about anything at all, it was therapeutic somehow.
Humans have used wings and feathers as personal ornamentation for the entirety of our history. In fact, there's evidence that our evolutionary cousins did so as well. It's suggested that this kind of ornamentation may even extend to a common ancestor of both humans and Neanderthals.
What has led to our fixation with feathered ornaments is something we'll never know for sure. Do they represent a freedom we terrestrial beings long for when we see our avian friends? Does it come from spiritual or religious reverence? Or is it just because they are so pretty?
Whatever drives it today will differ between individuals, but there is no shortage of
